CARVED IN STONE

There is a story going round on the Internet about two friends who were walking through the desert. During some point of the journey they had an argument, and one friend slapped the other one in the face. The one who got slapped was hurt, but without saying anything, he bent down and wrote in the sand: TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SLAPPED ME IN THE FACE.They kept on walking until they found an abandoned oasis. However, there was a little pool so they decided to take a bath. The one who had been slapped got stuck in the mire and began to drown, but the friend saved him. After recovered from the near drowning, he wrote on a stone: TODAY MY BEST FRIEND SAVED MY LIFE.The friend who had slapped and then later saved his best friend asked him, “After I hurt you, you wrote in the sand and now, you write on a stone. Why the difference?”The friend replied, “When someone hurts us we should write it down in sand where winds of forgiveness can erase it away. But, when someone does something good for us, we must engrave it in stone where no wind can ever erase it.”

WHY, WHY, WHY

Why do we press harder on a remote control when we know the batteries are getting weak?

Why do banks charge s fee on “insufficient funds” when they know there is not enough?

Why does someone believe you when you say there are four billion stars but check when you say the paint is wet?

Why doesn’t glue stick to the bottle?

Why do they use sterilized needles for death by lethal injection?

Why doesn’t Tarzan have a beard?

Why does Superman stop bullets with his chest, but ducks when you throw a revolver at him?

Why do Kamikaze pilots wear helmets?

Why do people constantly return to the refrigerator with hopes that something new to eat will have materialised?

Why do people keep running over a string a dozen times with their vacuum cleaner, then reach down, pick it up, examine it, then put it down to give the vacuum one more chance?
